About Us

Parres & Rodriguez takes initiative

We take the initiative to collaborate closely with the indigenous Wayuu and Zenu communities in northern Colombia, ensuring the sustainability of their families and their craftsmanship. Our goal is to establish a consistent and enduring partnership with these tribes, providing them with better prospects for the future, preserving their beautiful craftsmanship from fading into oblivion, and above all, granting it the appreciation it deserves.

Inspiration from Tradition

The design of Parres & Rodriguez draws inspiration from the Wayuu ethnic group, which resides on the La Guajira Peninsula in the northernmost part of Colombia. Women within this ethnic affiliation start learning weaving and crocheting at a young age, and the sale of traditionally woven and crocheted products serves as a significant source of income for the community. The Wayuu are quite cautious and rarely share their knowledge with those who are not part of their tribe. Beyond the tribe members, the art of weaving and crocheting is known to only a few

Every product is unique

The production of a woven or crocheted handbag takes approximately 2-4 weeks. Each handbag is a unique piece, crafted entirely by hand, and the selection of colors is one-of-a-kind. The bag is the perfect companion for every season.

Parres & Rodriguez also recognized the craftsmanship of the Zenu tribe, which is also native to northern Colombia. They are known for their intricate weaving techniques using plant fibers like cana flecha (Gynerium sagittatum) and natural dyes derived from plant materials. Fine fibers are also extracted from the Hiraca Palm (Carludovica Palmata) to create elaborate, beautiful, and distinctive bags and hats with time and patience.
